As August’s Mental Health Month comes to a close, I want you to pause for a moment.
Not to think about everything you still need to fix.
Not to make another list of what you should be doing better.
Just pause.
And remember where you started.
Think about the version of you who walked into this month carrying things nobody else could see. The stress. The exhaustion. The unanswered questions. The emotional weight. The responsibilities. The moments when you wondered how you were going to keep going.
Now look at you.
You made it.
Maybe everything isn’t perfect. Maybe some things are still hard. Maybe you still have days when your mind feels overwhelmed, your body feels tired, or your emotions feel heavier than you would like.
But you’re still here.
And that matters.
Celebrate the Progress Nobody Else Can See
Mental wellness isn’t always about huge transformations.
Sometimes progress looks like:
- Finally saying “no” without explaining yourself.
- Taking a break before you completely burn out.
- Asking for help.
- Choosing peace over an argument.
- Recognizing when your nervous system needs a moment to breathe.
- Giving yourself permission to rest.
- Setting a boundary.
- Getting out of bed on a difficult morning.
- Choosing yourself without feeling guilty.
- Realizing that healing doesn’t have to happen all at once.
Those things count.
You count.
So as this month comes to an end, don’t measure yourself only by how much you accomplished.
Measure yourself by how much you grew.
By how much you survived.
By how much you learned.
By how many times you kept going when giving up would have been easier.
And Here’s the Most Important Part…
Mental wellness doesn’t belong to August.
You don’t have to wait until next year’s Mental Health Month to check in with yourself.
Keep having the conversations.
Keep protecting your peace.
Keep caring for your mind, body, and spirit.
Keep asking yourself, “What do I need today?”
And remember that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It is part of being able to show up for the people and things you love.
From Chrissy’s Lil Corner, I want you to carry this reminder with you:
You don’t have to have it all figured out to be making progress.
Sometimes the greatest victory is simply realizing that the person you are today has made it through everything the person you were yesterday was afraid of.
So take a deep breath.
Look back.
Give yourself some credit.
And then keep going—gently.
You have come farther than you think. 🤍
With love,
Chrissy
